The company follows a strict preventative maintenance program, overseen by its parent company, Atlantis Submarines International (ASI), based in Vancouver, Canada. Additionally, local regulators conduct annual recertifications, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards.
The safety of every dive is in the hands of a highly skilled crew. Our pilots and staff undergo extensive training programs approved by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and local maritime authorities, ensuring they are well-prepared for all operational and emergency scenarios.

The submersible is operated positively buoyant throughout the dive. If power is switched off, the submarine will rise to the surface on its own.
In an emergency the submersible can be returned to the surface from a depth of 150 feet in approximately one minute.

Safety doesn’t end when the submarine submerges. Each dive is closely monitored in real-time from a Safety Boat on the surface, with constant communication between the submarine and surface support teams. They use extensive layers of tracking to monitor the submarine’s location, depth, and operational parameters, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
All systems aboard the submarine, including life-support, propulsion, and navigation, are continuously checked to ensure a safe operation. The surface team can also provide guidance or troubleshooting but should an emergency arise, rapid response protocols are in place, ensuring swift action from both the surface team and rescue personnel.
This seamless communication and constant monitoring give guests peace of mind, knowing that expert support is available at all times, enhancing the safety and security of the entire experience.
The air ballast system can be operated by the pilot or by divers externally without any input from the crew on board the submersible. The operating depth of the submersible is accessible with standard scuba diving equipment.

Atlantis Submarines Barbados is located in the Shallow Draught Bridgetown, Barbados and the tour is operated on Freshwater Bay Reef which ironically gets its name due to rain water ending up on the reef.
