Saturday, June 16th, 2024 - Wyndham Grand Sam Lords Castle Barbados - In a night of glitz and glamour, Atlantis Submarines Barbados emerged as the winner of the BHTA’s Business Excellence Award in the Attractions category.
General Manager Roseanne Myers said in a post-award interview, “We are very pleased as a combined team of thirty-plus-year-old tenured tourism industry veterans, and more recently hired millennials, to have impressed the judging panel with the criteria set out to compete for this top honor at the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Awards 2024.
Solid teamwork and internal controls help us to continually maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, reliability, and sustainability. We are especially thrilled that in the two post-pandemic award ceremonies in 2022 and now in 2024, the Atlantis Submarines family has shown resilience, resulting in being adjudged the top attraction based on the criteria, even in difficult times.”
Atlantis Submarines Barbados was also a proud sponsor of the A-class hotel of the year, as the company has always valued the importance of celebrating the top-tier contributors to the industry. “We thank the board, management, and team of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association for their commitment to the development of the tourism sector and for organizing a lavish and entertaining event that rewards and encourages excellence in the sector.”
The Atlantis Submarines Barbados operation was launched in 1987 and is the longest-running site of a fleet of submarines headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. The Barbados site has completed over 54,000 dives and taken close to 1.5 million passengers while retaining a core of the original highly skilled team that started the operation.
Currently, with sister submarine locations in Aruba, Guam, Cozumel, as well as the Hawaiian territories of Honolulu and Kona, Atlantis Submarines International, along with independent internationally accredited surveyors, keenly oversees the certification and adherence to strict standards for all the sites.
The worldwide fleet has a stellar record, having taken over 18 million people to explore the underwater world since its inception.
